President of Umm Al Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas received on Wednesday Jumada al-Oal 25, 1438H the annual report on mobile dental clinics.
The report was presented by Dean of the College of Dentistry Dr. Abdulaziz Khotani, Vice-dean for Clinical and Hospital Affairs Dr. Suleiman Hazazi, Vice-dean for Financial and Administrative Affairs Dr. Mohamed Al Harethy and Vice-dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Majed Al Maleky. The meeting was also attended by a number of dentists who participated in the clinics.
During the meeting, Dr. Assas listened to a detailed explanation from Dr. Hazazi on the content of the report. The Vice-dean said the mobile dental clinics provided services for up to 260 patients in Makkah and the nearby towns during field visits. The clinics would intensify visits next year to maximize benefits of services and research studies.
He added the clinics were equipped with the necessary supplies to provide medical and research services for patients. They have been linked to stores for medical supplies, an x-ray unit and waiting room for the comfort of patients.
The vice-dean noted that the project is envisaged to make medical surveys, to raise awareness about oral and dental health, to provide medical services for residents of Makkah and pilgrims and to participate in scientific researches.
Dr. Hazazi said the targeted region for this year included Makkah's towns in the east, south and north in addition to the medical services provided for pilgrims at the holy places.
Also, the teams of specialists paid visits for public areas to realize the college's vision and mission. He saluted UQU President for supporting the clinics and the college. Also, he hailed efforts exerted by Dean of the college to support the college's programs.
In the same context, Khotani said the college is endeavoring to qualify and train a delegation of dentists who are well-aware of the international standards through a program of academic courses that grant Bachelor of Science degrees in Dental Hygiene and Surgery.
The college has plans to link graduates' skills and qualifications with the community needs, he said, adding the college would raise the health service level in the region and would continue self-development to maintain high-quality medical care and medication.
Also, it provides medical consultancy services in addition to medical conveys to serve pilgrims and residents of the remote areas, he noted, adding the college provides health care for people with special needs.
For his part, Dr. Assas congratulated the college on its achievements mentioned in the report. The College of Dentistry is distinct educational facility that comprises a number of highly-qualified academics who have successfully served their community and achieved a numerous achievements, he said, adding the best investment is to build cadres of specialists with enough capabilities to build homeland. He wished more success and luck for the college's staff.
