Umm Al-Qura University has identified the programs and investment steps through which it will begin to diversify its sources of income by relying on its own resources. These issues were addressed at a workshop organized on Wednesday by the University Vice Presidency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Jeddah Hilton Hotel in the presence of His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, and its administrative and academic leadership.
The workshop discussed the means of unifying the efforts of the university’s different sectors, deciding on the practical mechanisms to develop its investment resources, and of diversifying its sources of income through its fixed and mobile assets. It also discussed how to develop and vary its educational and scientific programs for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and how to market its qualifying training courses.
The Assistant of the UQU Acting Vice President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Ayman Johargi, spoke about the relentless endeavors exerted by the university to diversify its sources of income and to work at an accelerated pace to create the mechanisms necessary to implement the cornerstones of the Saudi Vision 2030, which aim at privatizing the university's educational institutions, administratively as well as operationally. Moreover, the vision aims at making optimal use of the available resources and benefiting from the scientific and self-capabilities that the university possesses. Next, he explained that the workshop dealt with the current situation of investment within the university, and put forward many constructive ideas and proposals to develop the investment work system and properly employ the university's capabilities for the benefit and good of the university and its employees.
