His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bahusain Bafail, issued an administrative decision approving the enforcement of the decision issued by the Minister of Education and the Head of the Council for University Affairs to approve changing the name of the UQU College of Designs to the College of Designs and Arts. The UQU President also issued a decision to establish a new department under the name: "Department of Graphic Design", and to transfer the Department of Art Education from the College of Education to the College of Designs and Arts with a new name: "Department of Visual Arts".
This decision is part of the university's endeavor to achieve harmony between development and the main bases that aim to develop the culture and arts sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This decision also comes within the university's endeavor to establish centers for innovation in different fields of art, and create a cultural industry concerned with arts as well as artistic and visual art activities, turning them into a main pillar in the kingdom's economy. Moreover, the decision aims to develop ad enhance the national identity and stress its effective role which is prominent on the map of human civilizations.
