His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University and Chairman of the Board of Wadi Makkah for Technology, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, today, during the meeting headed by His Excellency with the Chief Executive Officer of Wadi Makkah for Technology, Prof. Faisal Allaf, in the presence of his advisor Dr. Hani Ghazi, checked the confirmation tests on the effectiveness of the ‘Bactil’ product, the fruit of scientific research of a group of researchers in the College of Medicine.
Dr. Sami Ashqar, the head of the research team and the head of the Department of Microorganisms at the College of Medicine, said that confirmation tests were carried out to check the effectiveness of the chemical composition of the products and their ability to resist microbes in local laboratories accredited by the Food and Drug Authority. Moreover, a coronavirus resistance test was carried out on the product in the Bioscience Laboratory in Montana, USA.
Dr. Ashqar stated the project was able to develop the effective plant substance, with zero side effects on human health, for it to be used in manufacturing eco-friendly biological products, including: general disinfectants for surfaces, floor cleaning solutions, hand soaps, and other products in the manufacturing phase. He added that the products were registered as trademarks under the name ‘Bactil’ for the Bactic Company, one of the startups of the Wadi Makkah Technology Company, the investment arm of UQU.
