Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of Admission and Registration, defined the subjects and courses that the university students will be able to study remotely during the first semester of the academic year 1442 A.H. This is to improve performance, increase operational efficiency, and cope with the conditions resulting from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. These subjects are specific to the general courses which are required by the university and theoretical colleges. In addition, there are the courses in the female section assigned to the academic staff members in the male section, as well as the courses of the affiliation program presented at all university headquarters through the systems of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education.
The deanship elucidated the mechanism and controls for preparing the academic schedule, stressing the avoidance of any conflict of courses in any academic level, and the need to abide by the set plan. Moreover, the deanship stressed the importance of dividing the divisions of each level throughout the working days of the week, so that no two divisions of the same course will be held at one time.
The deanship also obligated the academic departments to distribute lectures throughout the day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in order to ensure full commitment to social distancing controls and the implementation of health precautionary measures. The aim of such steps is to maintain the safety of the male and female students who have to attend lectures in person at the university headquarters in Makkah and its branches in Jamoum, Al-Leith, Al-Qunfudhah, and Adham.
