His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, at his office today, signed a contract to establish the “Umm Al-Qura Chair for Reviving Islamic Heritage” with Sheikh Mansour Abu Rayash, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Mansour Abu Rayash Foundation for Endowment in Makkah. This was in the framework of the UQU's efforts to preserve Islamic intellectual production, publish Islamic manuscripts, and provide academic consultation.
His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University stressed that the establishment of this academic chair comes as a laudable addition to the academic chairs that are supervised by the university, which have accomplished many great achievements. He also commended the establishment of this chair that supports the university's partnerships with civil society institutions in general and businessmen in particular, and contributes to sustainable development, indicating that the university receives great support from the wise leadership (may Allah support them).
On his part, the Chair Professor, Dr. Muhammad bin Ubaid, explained that the new academic chair seeks to verify and publish Islamic manuscripts, provide specialized academic advice, and cooperate with similar academic authorities inside and outside the Saudi Kingdom in the field of the chair. The chair also aims to make the intellectual production in the field of Islamic heritage available for the researchers and to enrich the scientific library with many academic studies and papers, especially with regard to the heritage of Makkah and the holy sites, in line with the goals of the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030.
The signing of the contract was attended by the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahhab Al-Resini, the Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, Prof. Muhammad Al-Soufi, the Vice Dean of Scientific Research for Research Chairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, and the Chair Professor and Advisor to the Institute of Manuscripts and the Revival of Islamic Heritage, Dr. Muhammad bin Ubaid.
