UQU students have donated 45 liters of blood on the first of the blood donation campaign, themed: “Thank Southern Border Heroes with Your Blood, under direct instructions by the Emirate of Makkah, and launched by UQU President Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas, at King Saud Historical Hall of Al-Abdiyah Campus, in the presence of Director of Laboratories and Blood Banks General Department Dr. Talib Banassir, along with Deans, faculty members and students.
Supervised by UQU College of Applied Medical Science, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah and initiated by the Financial Sustainability Fund, the campaign lasts for 30 days, while 400 students registered their names for blood donation on the first three hours.
Dean of the College of Applied Medical Science Dr. Ahmed Ashshi noted that the College will create a database of registered donors, including their names, health state, blood groups, and contact information; for further coordination to complete the blood donation process. Dr. Ashshi extended his deep thanks to UQU President Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas for his presence and support to this national initiative that would enhance national cohesion, promote the culture of voluntary work and blood donation among UQU students. Also, he extended his appreciation to the Health Affairs for providing UQU with a mobile blood donation unit, as well as organizing donors’ diagnosis and blood drawing.
From his part, UQU President Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas hailed the students’ interaction with such national initiative to assure the Southern Border Heroes that UQU students support them in their hearts and with their blood, stressing that the campaign, organized under direct instructions by the Emirate of Makkah and in collaboration with Makkah Health Affairs, was circulated via more than 41 thousand SMS sent to students’ mobiles at Al-Abdiyah Campus, to ensure their engagement and participation.
Dr. Bakri stated that the Southern Border Heroes are ready to give up their lives for the security of the Two Holy Mosques and our dear homeland under the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz – may Allah protect him. He also expressed his thanks to all participants in the success of this national initiative, launched to instill social engagement among Saudis, and foster the culture of voluntary work and blood donation among UQU students.
