The Intellectual Property Administration Office in the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Umm Al-Qura University announced the start of the receipt of applications for patent registration.
The office expressed its appreciation for the great role played by the innovators and thinkers, who continue to innovate and excel during times of crisis.
The office explained that one of the conditions for registration requires that the applicant must be a member of the university, and that only one idea is accepted from any member of the university. If the idea is submitted by a team, then all members of the team must be university staff members. In addition, the applicant should answer the enquiries sent to them from the office, and approve the contract between the inventor and the university. Priority shall be given to those who have not previously submitted any patent applications.
The office also added that one of the conditions that must be met in the submitted application is that the idea should be applicable, and that the required documents must be attached along with the application. Furthermore, all requests for detailed information about the idea must be provided, as well as related pictures and drawings and other items. The idea should be confidential and not disclosed to any party.
The target groups include the following: academic staff members, employees, and postgraduate students. Target specializations include the following: engineering, computer science, crowd management, and medicine.
