Today, Monday, His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, launched a campaign entitled: 'A Few Drops of Your Blood Can Help a Life to Bloom’, in King Abdulaziz Historical Hall. The campaign was organized by the UQU College of Applied Medical Sciences in collaboration with the Central Blood Bank at the Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah. This took place in the presence of the Dean of the College, Dr. Muhammad Al-Karbi, and a number of the academic staff members and students.
Dr. Al-Karbi explained that this campaign comes as part of the initiatives launched by the college for community partnership, in collaboration and coordination with the General Directorate of Health Affairs. The directorate provided a mobile blood unit, which consisted of six beds, in order to collect blood for donation. It also provided a donor screening unit and all the equipment needed for preserving the blood.
The Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences urged the students and staff of the college to participate in this campaign, which aims to promote the culture of blood donation and increase national cohesion and harmony between the citizens.
It is worth mentioning that blood donation benefits the donor's health, as it stimulates the bone marrow, improves blood circulation, treats some diseases, keeps the heart in a healthy condition, and improves mental health. In addition, the blood was checked during the campaign in order to ensure its wellness.
