The UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Maatooq Assas, inaugurated Student Activities Building at the Deanship of Students Affairs, on Thursday, Rajab 14, 1437H. The inauguration was attended by the University Vice-President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Sorouji, the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Amr bin Taha Al-Saqqaf, the Vice-Dean, Dr. Talal bin Ali Mathni, the Vice-Dean for Students Activities and Training, Dr. Faisal bin Awad Barwees, the Vice-Dean of Students Affairs for Guidance, Dr. Saeed Halawani, the Director of Students Activities Department, Mr. Siraj Al-Maliki, and the Director of Sports Activities Department, Mr. Abdullah Ajab.
Dr. Assas began with inaugurating the Sports Activities Halls on the ground floor, and then he visited the Theatre Club that is allocated for rehearsals, and the Training Hall at which the courses of the Student Clubs would be held. Furthermore, the University President visited the Students Clubs, such as the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club, the Social Club, the Media and Awareness Club, the Scouts Club, the Scholarships Club, and the Cultural Club. In addition, the heads of these clubs made brief presentations about their clubs, their programs and their achievements.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Assas visited the offices of the Vice-Deanship for Students Activities and the Students Clubs’ Supervisors.
On his part, Dr. Assas stated that the University is always eager to provide the best services to its students. He also urged the students to exert more efforts to innovate and create new programs that could serve the university students and encourage them to participate in student activities. Furthermore, Dr. Assas praised the efforts made by the University Vice-President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Surouji, the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Amr bin Taha Al-Saqqaf, and the Vice-Deans.
On his part, the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Amr bin Taha Al-Saqqaf, denoted that these clubs aim to serve the students. And he added that the number of clubs is 21, each of them has 1 supervisor to supervise the activities implementation. Over and above, he explained that these clubs play a significant role in developing the skills of the students, and reinforcing their capabilities.
In conclusion, Dr. Al-Saqqaf extended thanks to Dr. Assas, Dr. Surouji, the Vice-Deans and the staff for their continued support and follow-up.
