The Training Department at the College of Community Service and Continuing Education at Umm Al-Qura University launched a 14-week training program in health security, in the cooperation with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, to qualify 145 trainees to serve the health sector in the Saudi Kingdom.
The Assistant Vice President for Development and Community Services and Dean of the College of Community Service and Continuing Education, Prof. Khalid bin Yusuf Barqawi, stated that the training program aims to empower young people and qualify them at the academic and practical levels. This is in line with the needs and requirements of the labor market, especially in the health sector in the kingdom.
Moreover, he underlined that these training programs come within the framework of the Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to provide opportunities for young people and empower them with the skills they need. The vision also seeks to provide the youth with various job opportunities, commensurate with their skills and capabilities.
On his part, The UQU Vice Dean for Voluntary Work and Head of the Training Department, Prof. Salih bin Abdullah Al-Furaih, pointed out that the training program comes within the framework of the continuous cooperation with the Health Academy at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties to qualify human cadres to work in the health security sector. This is according to an elaborate academic plan that includes a number of areas, with the aim of developing the trainees and increasing their work efficiency. The areas of training include the following: the security of health facilities, first aid, English language, occupational health and safety, laws and regulations, as well as code of ethics and professional conduct, which outline the ethical principles that govern the work of the health field. Communication and teamwork skills, and the art of dealing with auditors and teams were also covered. The training in these areas will contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of the security and administrative process in the field of health security.
