Umm Al-Qura University acquainted its female students with their academic rights and duties according to the rules and regulation approved by the university. This came through the activities of the students advancement meeting organized by the Vice Deanship of Student Affairs for Student Support over two days with the participation of the vice deans of the different deanships and colleges.
During the sessions of the meeting, the female speakers discussed the most significant reasons of bullying and its negative impact on student integration with her peers during her university career. They also referred to the importance of being committed to the rules stipulated in the student's guide, and being aware of the executive and advisory roles of the different parties inside the university, either through the academic mentors in the departments or the meetings, programs and activities organized by the deanship throughout the academic year.
The program was accompanied by an awareness campaign entitled Tabsir [Enlightenment], which was activated by students from different colleges to introduce the audience to the reward systems, university cards, rights, and duties. The activities also included educational competitions and panel discussions to respond to students’ inquiries and comments.
The Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Student Support (female section), Dr. Afnan Farouqi, pointed out that the activities of the program fall within the objectives of the deanship to give the students the needed care and provide them with the proper environment for their needs. This is in order to stimulate them to maintain their creativity and excellence at the cognitive and educational levels. She also underlined the importance of the student's guide and its detailed instructions on rights and duties.
