His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Prof. Abdullah Bafail, ordered the implementation of the university garden project on an area of 18 thousand meters. The project will include: a one thousand meter long walkway, green landscapes, aesthetic fountains, and associated facilities, thereby providing an attractive university environment for the students and academic staff.

This came during an inspection visit to the new housing project yesterday, after 126 villas had been built within the first and second phases. The president was accompanied by the Supervisor of the Activities of the UQU Vice Presidency for Branches and Project Management, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hazimi, the Project Management Director, Eng. Muhammad Baneh, and the field supervisors of the project at the Project Management Office.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Hazimi explained that the project management is very keen to provide a housing environment with a dynamic nature in order for it to have a positive impact on the academic and research outcomes. He said the work is underway to handout 126 new villas to the housing department, who will start delivering them to the male and female academic staff within a period of 30 days. This will make the total number of housing units in the university reach 450 villas, with an area of 477 meters each.

He added that service facilities were provided for the housing area, including: a kindergarten, medical clinic, 4 playgrounds, two mosques, and 500 meter long walkway, noting that 72 villas will be implemented in the third and fourth phases whose infrastructure works have already been completed, including: roads, water supply, and sewage networks.
