During the 7th International Conference on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technologies, "IMAN 2019", held in Malaysia, the female students of Al-Qunfudhah College of Computer presented a scholarly research which focused on analyzing the Sanad (chain of narrators) of the Hadiths and verifying their authenticity. This research comes as part of their graduation project, and bears the title of "Towards an Automated System for the Verification of the Continuity of the Sanad of Hadith". It is designed with the aim of becoming one of the applications contributing to the service of Muslims and Shari`ah sciences through a repository of knowledge that is based on reliable scientific references.

The Project Supervisor, Dr. Abdul-Karim Abdul-Qadir, explained that the program underwent several stages of development before being finalized, starting with conducting a comprehensive survey of similar programs and encyclopedias. This is in order to be able to study the entire chain of narrators and understand its structure and components in a clear and accurate manner, especially after converting the resources necessary for the system to operate [i.e., chains of narrators, biographies of narrators, Al-Sama`at (methods of hearing reports of Hadith), Mursal Hadiths (Hadiths with no reference to the Companions who narrated them), terms and ranks of Al-Jarh wa-al-Ta`dil (criticizing or validating the uprightness of Hadith narrators), and all different forms of reception and transmission of Hadith)] into a database in XML format to achieve compatibility, flexibility in reuse, and the ability to integrate with other sources.

Dr. Abdul-Karim highlighted that the project achieved acceptance among the conference participants, who suggested that the scientific paper should be adopted by one of the companies or institutions, and that joint scientific committees consisting of Hadith scholars and computer specialists should be formed. This research is notable for its concern in dividing the Sanad to extract the chain of narrators, while explaining how each narrator received the hadith narration from previous narrators. It also contains a feature that allows to investigate the continuity or discontinuity of the chain of narration.
