Higher Committee for Accreditation Holds Periodical Meeting to Follow up Recommendations

The Higher Committee for Academic Institutional and Programmatic Accreditation at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) held its periodical meeting headed by UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Maatooq Assas, at his office on Monday 11th Rabi’II 1438H. The meeting was attended by UQU vice deans, Dr. Muhammad Thabet (Dean of University Development and Quality), and assistant vice deans.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Hany Ghazi, UQU Vice President for Academic Development, explained in detail the achievements of Institutional Accreditation Committees concerning fulfillment of the project’s executive plans, obligations and duties recommended by the National Committee for Academic Assessment and Accreditation (NCAAA).  He commended the past and present support and care by the President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri bin Maatooq Assas, and UQU vice presidents for the distinction of the project.

In the same context, Dr. Muhammad Thabet, Dean of University Development and Quality, fully demonstrated the time table of the Institutional Accreditation. He also presented the checks by the Internal Audit Group concerning programs’ and colleges’ readiness for Institutional Accreditation through meeting Education Evaluation Commission requirements included in the documents. He said that the checks also included utilities, laboratories, staff members’ opinions, educational process, services provided by programs and colleges for students and staff members, committees’ missions, and committee reports’ submission times. He added that since the launch of the project, many meetings with committees’ heads and members were held to clarify the obligations of every committee and submit to it the required samples and sub-standards. He finally commended the follow up and attention by UQU President, and UQU Vice President for Academic Development to all the Deanship’s programs.   

On the other hand, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri bin Maatooq Assas, commended the role played by the University Vice-Presidency for Academic Development and Community Service for the academic accreditation of colleges and institutional accreditation of programs. He noted that Institutional Accreditation was a standard of UQU quality as it contributed to its academic and administrative distinction and full output enhancement. He finally extended thanks to Dr. Hany Ghazi (UQU Vice President for Academic Development), Dr. Muhammad bin Jaafar Thabet (Dean of University Development and Quality), and all the teamwork of Institutional Accreditation.
