Together to the Top: A Qualification Camp for the UQU Female Students in the Department of Social Service

Umm Al-Qura University seeks to develop the capabilities of the female students in leadership and planning, and prepare them for participation in the labor market with scientific foundations that contribute to serving the nation and achieving its development objectives. This is via the "Together to the Top" Program organized by the Department of Social Service that introduce female students of the field training course to female scout activities, and teach them the skill of preparing the camps according to the fields of work of social specialists. The program was held under the auspices of Her Excellency the Vice President for Female Student Affairs, Dr. Sarah Al-Khuli, in the presence of the Vice Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Dr. Khuloud bint Abdullah Al-Thubaiti.

The Deputy Head of the Department of Social Service, Dr. Amina Al-Jindi, stated that the training camp included an integrated program to develop the basic values and principles of the social specialist, and provide her with the skills of leadership, teamwork, and self reliance in crises management, due to her significant role in supporting the public and private sector agencies with organizational and entertainment programs. "Thus, she must be aware of all tools that enable her to lead the groups professionally, plus the skills that need to be applied continuously, including: registration, assessment, and holding interviews," she explained.

Al-Jindi stressed the importance of the accompanying exhibition in enriching the level of knowledge of the students. This was achieved by adopting the techniques of the quality programs, and distributing tasks according to the number of members and the need of each family in the camp. She explained that the exhibition included 6 various fields, which enable the student to manage different activities in line with the proper organizational frameworks. The program also included a training course in first aid, and the mechanism of dealing with the emergency cases, in cooperation with specialist physicians from the University Medical Center.
