UQU President Chairs the 2nd Meeting of University Council for the Academic Year 1437/1438 H

On behalf of the Minister of Education the Chairman of UQU Council Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Iesa, the President of UQU Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas chaired the 2nd meeting of university council for the academic year 1437/1438 H on Thursday Rabie Al-Thani 7, 1438 H, at King Faisal Hall in Abdyia. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Interim Committee of the Council of Higher Education, Dr. Mohamed bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saleh via the closed-circuit television from his office in Riyadh.

 
Meanwhile, Dr. Assas said that we take pride to speak about the qualitative leaps witnessed by the Kingdom in this flourishing reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz who managed to maintain prosperity in the Kingdom by achieving strategic goals and protecting Saudi resources in addition to establishing fruitful cooperation between Muslim and Arab worlds. 


Dr. Assas expressed on behalf of the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed Al-Iesa and the members of the university council and the affiliates of the university, his sincere congratulations and blessing on the occasion of the second anniversary of King Salman's rule. 


Within the same vein, he stressed that the budget, adopted by the government, showed keen interest and attention from King Salman and the government to maintain a good standard of living for the people.


In this regard, Dr. Assas said the Citizens Account Program, that helps low-income families, is a naked proof on the Kingdom's efforts to help its citizens everywhere.
He said: "The budget, including figures on the fiscal year 1438/1439H (2017), confirms Saud's potentials under the wise leadership to overcome all challenges and confront any circumstances.


It is a proof for the strength of the Saudi economy in face of the economic and political fallouts gripped the world." He added the figures of the expenditure and income show how keen and attentive is the government for the comprehensive development that covers all aspects of life.

 

On his part, the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research who serves also as the Secretary General of the University Council, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi said the council discussed several topics on the sidelines of the second session  including; approval request for granting bachelor and diploma degrees to students expected to graduate by the end of the first semester of the academic year 1437/1438 H from all university colleges, institutes in Makkah and its branched in Al-Lith, Jamoum, Adhm and Al-Qunfudhah provinces,   approval request for secondment, extending secondment and extending transfer and secondment of a number of faculty members to serve at other universities, approval request for  appointing, extending appointments of a number  of  faculty members to be members in the councils of some colleges for two year, approval request to adopt some proposed amendments to the executive rules of the charity fund to support scholarships of non-Saudi students as per the formula of the Institute of Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers, approval request for adopting the memorandum of understanding between the University and the Ministry of Health in the field of crowd management and health besides the approval request for giving another opportunity to a number of post graduate students (Master and PhD). In addition he noted that the Council considered and discussed several academic and administrative issues and made appropriate recommendations.
