The Vice Deanship of Student Affairs for Activities and Student Training crowned the team of the College of Applied Medical Sciences that participated in the first Women's Futsal League. The league was launched for the first time in the female section of Umm Al-Qura University, having been approved as part of the agenda of sporting activities to achieve the directives of the Ministry of Education and national targets. The College of Social Sciences team was runners-up, while the health stream of the Deanship of the Joint First Year came third.

The Vice Dean for Student Activities and Training, Dr. Nahlaa Hariri, said that the Vice Deanship chose football and basketball tournaments as well as individual darts and archery games for its sports programs for the past academic year. The choice was based on the circular issued by the Sports Federation of Saudi Universities concerning the launching of sports activities in the university, not less than two activities in the first semester.

Dr. Nahlaa stressed that colleges should interact with the championship, and that their teams should join the weekly training camps held in the gym under the supervision of specialized trainers from outside the university. Referees are to be recruited through the Jeddah Women's Football Committee. She noted the role of community partnerships with Al-Wahda Club and some food stores in promoting a culture of physical activity and publicizing healthy eating behaviors and a healthy lifestyle approach.

She added, “The launching of the football tournament has been proactively arranged with the 11 participating colleges. It started by nominating a dedicated coordinator to follow up on program updates and provide the Vice Deanship with the necessary information. The coordinator should also submit reports of physical fitness examinations for students upon their arrival from the University Medical Center, to discover cases that suffer from chronic diseases and take that into account in the selection of an appropriate sport to be practiced within the specified time period."

Dr. Hariri promised that the current tournament is preparation for female students entering the next semester competitions. In addition, there is the qualification program that the Vice Deanship will work on to promote physical fitness and healthy nutrition for female students to enable them to join the sports programs associated with the university team for female students. Joining the university team requires the establishment of proactive tournaments with reports and results promising qualification for nomination.
