The delegation of international auditors from the Council on Occupational Education (COE) in the USA, reviewed the programs of the College of Society at UQU, to find out whether they meet the international academic accreditation standards, so as to renew the international academic accreditation of the College for 5 years.
At the end of the visit, the delegation met Dr. Bakri Bin Maatooq Assas, the UQU President, in attendance of the Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hani Bin Othman Ghazi, the Dean of the College of Society, Dr. Khaled Barqawi, and the Dean of University Development and Quality, Dr. Muhammad Thabet.
On his part, Dr. Assas stated that the College of Society is considered the first college to get the international academic accreditation at the university, and one of the first colleges that get it in the KSA. And he added that the renewal of the academic accreditation is due to the compatibility of its programs and community services it offers through its different departments, with the requirements of the program. In addition, Dr. Assas highlighted that the international accreditation of the university programs reflects the strength and quality of these programs. And he continued that the university has created a team headed by the Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hani Bin Othman Ghazi, and made great strides to have its entire programs, in all sciences, accredited.
On his part, Dr. Ghazi confirmed that the renewal of the academic accreditation of the College of Society is one of the main objectives set by the University for programs and colleges accreditation, under the guidance of Dr. Assas. In addition, he wished success to the academic accreditation team at the College; headed by Dr. Khaled Barqawi.
Over and above, Dr. Ghazi stated that the visit of the delegation lasted for 3 days during which the delegation checked the departments of the college, and met the teaching staff and the students to make sure that the College is still offering its academic programs according to the highest international standards; based on which the College got its accreditation in 2010. Besides, he added that the delegation reviewed the quality files, the progress of the educational process, and the development of programs.
Moreover, Dr. Barqawi explained that the visit of the delegation aims to determine the requirements of the accreditation renewal, and grant it to the College of Society (Girls Section). Furthermore, he highlighted that the College of Society includes 4 scientific departments offering 5 bachelor programs. He also added that the College has always been eager to provide all facilities and preparations required for getting the academic accreditation renewal. Eventually, Dr. Barqawi extended his thanks to Dr. Assas, Dr. Ghazi, and Dr. Thabet for their follow-up on the renewal of the accreditation, and facilitating all procedures to help achieving this goal.
On his part, the Head of the international auditors’ delegation, Alphonso Salazar, praised the distinctive level that the College reached, and its classrooms, laboratories, different educational tools and facilities that are in accordance with the highest modern technologies.
As the visit drew to a close, the head of the delegation gave the President of the UQU, Dr. Bakri bin Maatooq Assas, the Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hani Ghazi, the Dean of University Development and Quality, Dr. Muhammad Ghaafar Thabet, and the Dean of the College of Society, Dr. Khaled Barqawi, badges of honor of the COE, that are usually granted to the distinguished academic calibers only.
