Nanotechnology Expert from India Concludes His Visit to Umm Al-Qura University

Yesterday, on Wednesday, Prof. Samir Kumar Pal, Expert and Senior Researcher at Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences and Nanoscience in Kolkata, India, concluded his visit to Umm Al-Qura University with a meeting with His Excellency Prof. Abdullah Bafail, in Al-Abdiyyah University City. This meeting was attended by the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani Ghazi; the Advisor to the Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship and Supervisor of the International Cooperation Unit, Dr. Salih Ahmad; the Dean of the College of Applied Sciences, Dr. Hatim Al-Tas; the Head of the Chemistry Department, Dr. Ismail Al-Thaqafi; and the Vice Dean of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Wajdi Qattan.

Prof. Kumar praised the high scientific and competent level of the researchers and academic staff members with whom he met during his scientific visit to the university, and highlighted the current scientific boom being witnessed in the university and its ambitious plan to improve its research outputs.

On his part, the Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani Ghazi, explained that this visit by Professor Kumar to the university came within the framework of its strategic plan to attract distinguished international researchers, as part of implementing the vision and directions of the University President to carry out aspects of international cooperation with global universities and research centers.

The Advisor to the Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship and Supervisor of International Cooperation, Dr. Salih Ahmad Salih, pointed out that the vision and directions of His Excellency the University President open wide horizons to help enhance global scientific and research partnerships, as part of the efforts being made to develop the academic and knowledge-based outputs of the university.

It is worth mentioning that Prof. Kumar visited the College of Applied Sciences, the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Wadi Makkah, and the College of Pharmacy. During this visit, Prof. Kumar held a number of lectures and workshops on the most significant medical research applications with the deans of these colleges, institutes, and academic members and researchers. He also reviewed a number of graduation projects, including master's thesis drafts. In addition, he participated in the evaluation and discussion of some research projects for master's students, and also gave lectures on modern medical applications and their fields.
