Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the College of Business Administration, has furthered its efforts to give students the skills and scientific practice that help them in their specialization and refine their practical experience and life skills during the study, to help them to work with skill and high efficiency after graduation. To this end, the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Makkah, initiated the organization of the “My Experience” event for the female students of the department. They run the event efficiently, under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Ihsan Al-Muataz, the Vice Dean of the College Dr. Hawazin Al-Zubaidi, the Head of the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, Dr. Ali Al-Qasim, the Deputy Head of the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, Ms. Lamia Berzi, as well as Ms. Khadijah Abbas, who is an event organization expert, member of the Entrepreneurship Committee at the Chamber of Commerce, and collaborator with the department.
The Head of the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, Dr. Ali Al-Qasim, explained that among the plans that the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management works on is to enhance the students' skills through either organizing events or participating in them. This could also be achieved through promoting initiation and leadership, training on solving problems that usually accompany the organization of events, in addition to using thinking, planning and teamwork skills, and effective communication skills.
On his part, the supervisor of Umm Al-Qura University Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Babalghith, said that among the plans that the vice presidency will work on in the future, in coordination with the colleges, deanships and different bodies in the university, is to enhance the students' skills and provide them with experience that meet the needs of the labor market, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
It is worth nothing that the audience commended the event, and they, side by side with the sponsors and officials of the Chamber of Commerce, assured its success.
A number of business leaders from Makkah participated in the event; they presented their projects and experiences, and talked about the measures needed for success and the obstacles they have faced since launching their projects.
