Deanship of Student Affairs Concludes the Students' Events and Activities Held under the Logo

The University of Umm Al-Qura represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs concluded on Tuesday, 12/07/1437H the student activities of the Academic Year 1436/1437H which were held under the logo "A Nation's Wealth" under the patronage of HE Dr. Barki bin Matouk Assas, the UQU vice-presidents and deans of colleges, Dean of Student Affairs, vice-deans and administrative staffs of the Deanship and the students who participated in the student activities. The closing ceremony was held at the Historical Hall of King Abdulaziz at the UQU premises in Al Abidiyah.

The ceremony started with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an. After that, a singing operetta and play entitled "A Nation's Wealth" presented by a group of student clubs. The Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Amr bin Taha al-Saqqaf delivered a speech in which he pointed out that student programs play a vital role in developing students' talents and capabilities and also help them to spend their leisure in useful hobbies. He affirmed that the student activity is an essential part of students' progress because such activity provides them with an opportunity to exhibit his talents and capabilities in addition to fair competition among students in a way that make them closer and more friendly to each other. Dr. Al-Saqqaf then shed light on the most important achievements made by the Deanship starting from the prominent ranks reached by the UQU in Saudi University Sports Federation and the important programs implemented by the Deanship including the Orientation Program allocated for the newcomers, "Alwahyaen" competition and "A Nation's Wealth" competition. He also referred to the 7th Scientific Forum held by the UQU male and female students and many other activities and events, expressing his thanks and gratitude to the UQU President, the Vice-President of Educational Affairs and all the vice-presidents, colleges' deans, and directors of UQU's different administrations for their cooperation with the Deanship in implementing its programs. He also gave thanks to the people working in the Deanship of Student Activities and Training, especially the Vice-Dean of Student Activities and Training and the employees of the Vice-Deanship. A documentary film about the Deanship's activities, programs and achievements during the academic year was played.

HE Dr. Barki bin Matouk Assas, UQU President delivered a speech in which he highlighted the great support and care received from the Rational Leader of the Country – May Allah Protect him – and the HE Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa for his keenness on advancing the educational process and providing all necessary facilities for the sake of this Country. Dr. Assas added that paying attention to the extracurricular and entertainment activities is considered an essential and integral component of the educational process. Such activities, he pointed out, help develop students' talents and capabilities and enhance their knowledge through application and practice. He gave thanks to the Vice-President of the UQU, the Dean of Student Affairs and the Vice-deans for their care of students through organizing such activities and programs.

HE Dr. Assas honored excellent students from different UQU colleges and prominent students who excelled in student clubs and also students who won the "A Nation's Wealth" competition organized by the Deanship. Dr. Assas also honored the entities that cooperated with the Deanship of Student Affairs. The ceremony was concluded with a draw on the presents allocated for the audience.
