Represented by the Department of Curricula and Instruction, the College of Education at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) organized a forum titled, “Arabic Language Spread Reinforcement” on the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day 2016. The vent was attended by colleges’ deans and a number of staff members and students at the College’s Grand Hall, Abediyah Campus.
The event started with a paper by Dr. Adel bin Ahmed Ba-Naamah, Dean of Library Affairs and Staff Member at the College of Arabic Language, about (Arabic Language: Identity and Spread). Then, Dr. Sa’eed bin Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Qarni, Head of Arabic Language and Literature Research Centre at the Deanship of Scientific Research and Staff Member at the College of Arabic Language, presented another paper titled, “Arabic Scientific Term between Recession and Spread.” The event was managed by Dr. Abdullahh bin Muhammad Al-Tamim, Associate Professor of Arabic Language Curricula and Instruction and Head of the Scientific and Cultural Committee at the Department of Curricula and Instruction.
Finally, Dr. Ali bin Mosleh al-Matrafi, Dean of the College of Education, appreciated the event and called for harmony and cooperation in scientific research among UQU colleges to the benefit of UQU. He added that UQU Colleges’ specialists were its extension and strategic depth, and that effort synergy of educators and linguists (or others from other colleges) would represent a quantum leap in the scientific and research journey of the university.
On the other hand, Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Fureih, UQU Dean of Postgraduate Studies, called for workshops that involved all Arabic Language specialists at the College of Arabic Language, the Institute of Arabic Language for Non-native Speakers, or Education College Arabic Language and Curricula specialists. Such workshops would rescue and spread the Arabic Language, and intensify efforts that contributed to the elevation of the language of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah.
