A total of 7 students from the Department of Interior Design at the College of Designs in Umm Al-Qura University, under the supervision of the academic member, Dr. Hussam Al-Wardani, participated in the design and implementation of Umm Al-Qura University Pavilion for visitors of the International Exhibition and Conference on Higher Education in Riyadh, held from 5–8 Sha`ban, 1440 A.H.
They were able to come up with ideas that are outside the box to highlight the participation of their university during the exhibition, inspired by the ancient Makkan architectural style. Their efforts were carried out independently, without the use of any specialized external companies.
This was the result of the support and direction given by His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, President of the University, the follow-up and supervision of Dr. Hani Ghazi, the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, and the executive follow-up of Dr. Hisham Maghrabi, the Dean of the College of Designs, and his vice deans.
