Last Wednesday, the Awareness and Media Club at Umm Al-Qura University organized a celebration on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its foundation. The celebration was held in King Abdulaziz Support Hall in Al-Abdiyyah. The event was sponsored by the University Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Suruji, in the presence of Dr. Siraj Sunbul, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Shinqiti, the Supervisor of the Media Center, and a number of former and current club members.
The audience witnessed a brief presentation of the ten-year history of the club, including its successes and achievements that still resonate until this moment. The presentation included many programs and campaigns carried out by the club on the university campus, and media events in which the UQU students shined. Since its inception, the club has had 300 programs, more than 500 enrolled members, and 11 media and scientific partnerships.
The Vice President of Educational Affairs stressed that the presentation indicates that the students have the skills and educational competency to lead future generations in many professional and educational fields. He explained that the curricular and extra-curricular activities are complementary and not competitive. He stated that he dreamed of the day when the student clubs will organize all the university events and campaigns.
The Dean of Student Affairs praised the active contribution and the efforts of the club, such as organizing media programs and training courses at the university level. He pointed to the impact of the club in refining the skills and energy of students and its role in building a leadership personality that enables them to emerge and put their own fingerprint on the future.
The ceremony concluded with honoring those who have had an impact on the club's progression over the years, as well as those who have shined within its walls, and have become role models to build a brighter future.
