A group from the Department of Computer Sciences (Female Section), College of Computers and Information Systems at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), visited the female section at the Startup Companies Center in Wadi Makkah. The group was headed by Dr. Mnal Al-Ghamdi, Assistant Head of the Department of Computer Sciences (Female Section), Dr. Sarah Al-Sherif, Head of the Committee on Student Activities at the College of Computers and Information Systems (Female Section), as well as a number of the Department's female students.
The group was warmly received by Mrs. Kholoud Al-Sa'edy, Program Manager at the Wadi Makkah (Female Section) and Mrs. Hadeel Attas, Program Official. The two Wadi Makkah officials gave a detailed explanation about Wadi Makkah, the platform of startup companies from scientific research and innovation through three main programs: Innovation Center, Accelerator and Venture Capital.
In this context, the group was shown samples of Wadi Makkah Startup Companies' Products and methods of their transformation from ideas into startup companies that succeeded in selling their products to the public and private sectors. This obviously reflected the commercial transformation of researches and innovations inside Wadi Makkah.
Dr. Osamah Alamri, CEO at Wadi Makkah Company, expressed his pleasure with such visit, which opened wide horizons for female students to become leading business women. This was through direction of their ideas and projects to be transformed into startup companies. Moreover, he invited all staff members and students at all UQU colleges to visit the Startup Companies Center in Wadi Makkah in order to benefit from the available resources.
On the other hand, Dr. Fahd al-Dosari, Dean of the College of Computer and Information Systems, stressed the significance of such visits, as they would positively influence male and female students to become leaders in business.
