Deanship of E-Learning Comes First Among Saudi Universities with Regard to the Number of those Registered in Joint Training Courses

The Committee of the Deans of E-Learning and Distance Education in Saudi Universities honored Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, due to coming first with regard to the numbers of those registered at the interactive joint training courses for e-learning among Saudi universities. This is a training program that targets academic staff members in Saudi universities to upgrade their efficiency and promote their required skills in the field of e-learning.

The university was honored during the seventh meeting of the Committee of the Deans of E-Learning and Distance Education in Saudi Universities that was hosted by King Khalid University in Abha last Thursday, 5 Safar. His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Falih bin Raja'ullah Al-Sulami, honored Umm Al-Qua University for this achievement in the presence of the Vice Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education at Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Ahmad bin Rashid bin Ahmad Al-Bashiri, and the acting Vice Dean of E-Learning (female section), Dr. Hanaa bint Abdul-Rahim Yamani.

During the meeting, the suggestion offered by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education at Umm Al-Qura concerning the policies and standards of quality assurance and accreditation practices in Higher Education Institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was examined. The deanship offered an application course for quality standards (QM) in e-courses for all Saudi universities, which was conducted by Dr. Hasan bin Abdulaziz Al-Sabbagh. This course gained the admiration of those from different Saudi universities who registered in it as a total of two thousand have registered in the course since it was first announced. This course is part of a series of courses organized to implement the recommendations of the fifth meeting of the Committee of Deans of E-Learning and Distance Education in Saudi universities, and is included in the seventh recommendation concerning the activation of the Joint Training Program in E-Learning among universities. It was agreed that a training course will be conducted each semester, and will be delivered by a trainer to be chosen from each university. A training package will also be prepared for that purpose.

The Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education, Dr. Khalid Al-Mutairi, praised the unlimited support that the deanship receives from His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, which contributed greatly in the development of the deanship in a way that goes in line with the vision of the Ministry of Education concerning digital transformation.
