UQU Discusses with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Introducing New Specializations Compatible with Labor Market

Umm Al-Qura University discussed with the delegation of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture aspects of joint cooperation on the possibility of introducing new university programs for the diploma, bachelor, and masters phases to support the labor market with new specializations serving the requirements of the ministry and the public and private sectors. This occurred during a meeting headed by the Dean of the College of Community, and the agreement coordinator, Dr. Essam Bazr`ah, in the presence of the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Aziz bin Rashad Suruji.

The Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Hariri, stressed the directions of the Ministry of Agriculture to develop its future plans and programs and meet its needs for qualified graduates through its cooperation with the university to create scientific and craft fields that achieve job compatibility between the graduates and the employment opportunities provided by the professional institutions and establishments.

The members of the environment agency, Eng. Osman Hashim and Eng. Abdul-Aziz Al-Khoawiar, highlighted the most important services and awareness fields enabling voluntary environmental work, either through the scientific courses and executive diploma or the awareness courses and programs and consultations and research, to ensure environmental sustainability in different tracks in addition to introducing the tasks of the National Center for Waste Management affiliated to the environment sector.

Prof. Abdul-Aziz Suruji referred to the importance of combined efforts to activate the agreement articles and to implement its study and awareness programs to become a practical model benefiting students and professional institutions.

The meeting was attended by the Vice Dean of the College of Community Service for Voluntary Work, Prof. Salih Al-Firaih, the Vice Dean of Research Projects in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research, Dr. Mazin Al-Shamarani, the Head of the Environmental and Health Research Department in the Institute, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sib`ai, the representative of the College of Engineering, Dr. Faisal Asrah, the Vice Dean of the College of Applied Sciences for Educational Affairs, Dr. Husain bin Hasan Abu Al-Rish, the vice deans of the community college, and the heads of the departments.
