The students of the Mass Communication Department presented TV news that covered events of the Internal Audit and Technical Support Group at the Deanship of University Development, Mass Communication Department, Umm Al-Qura University. The Commission considered the opinions and suggestions of both staff members and students concerning educational process development. In this context, Dr. Abdurrahman As-Salmy, Vice Dean of University Development, praised the development of the Mass Communication Department which involved practical training either at the TV Studio or at the Press Laboratory. The students of the Department performed a TV meeting with the Internal Audit and Technical Support Group at the Deanship of University Development. The Commission watched some of the works of students which included documentaries and TV programs.
The event was attended by Dr. Muhammad bin Ahmed Othman Ba-Saqr, Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Dr. Muhammad bin Ali Hindiyyah, Head of Mass Communication Department, as well as members of staff. Dr. Ba-Saqr declared that the College supported students scientifically through providing them with good educational climate and training them at the College’s mini TV studios in order to qualify them for media work. In addition to that, the College attracted experts and specialists from among members of staff in this domain.
Dr. Muhammad Hindiyyah added that the Department organized field visits to some of the media foundations, on top of which were MBC Channel, the Saudi Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), Alif Alif FM and Mix FM Radios, in addition to national newspapers such as Okaz, Al-Madina, Makkah Electronic Newspaper, with the aim of introducing them to the most recent devices and modern technologies in the domain of media production.
At the end of the meeting, the Commission appreciated the cooperative spirit of the College’s administration towards the students and staff members. It added that such spirit would graduate distinguished media cadres who were qualified for joining the media labor market at various TV channels and newspapers, without the need to attend media training courses.
