During their celebration of the 89th National Day, the UQU female writers and poets revived the history of ancient Arabic poetry by composing presentable poetry that was in line with current events and special occasions. This poetic participation took place as part of a poetry reading organized by the Deanship of University Studies in Al-Jafali Hall 2, Al-Zahir Campus, female section. The poetry reading was entitled, "Umm Al-Qura University Supporting a Nation's Determination to Reach the Summit", and was attended by the Vice President for Female Student Affairs, Dr. Sarah Al-Khuli, the Dean of University Studies, Dr. Halah Al-Amoudi, and several vice deans and deputy heads of the departments.
In their poems, the female poets mentioned the prominent decisions taken in relation to activating the role of women and enabling them to invest their energies in serving the different sectors of the state. They also highlighted the statement made by the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Muhammad bin Salman, in which he likened the determination of the Saudi youth to the strength of Tuwaiq Mountain, and the impact that this will have on consolidating their national unity to resist contemporary challenges. They also reinforced the concept of belonging to all regions of the kingdom by using different dialects of the kingdom while reciting their poems.
The Vice Dean of University Studies for Educational Affairs and Development, Dr. Khulud Al-Yousef, the supervisor of the program, clarified that poems are a simple expression of the warm feelings of the female poets towards their homeland and its great achievements, which they demonstrate by presenting pleasant verses that touch the hearts of the audience. In conclusion, she thanked the Vice President for Female Students Affairs, Dr. Haifa' Fida, for her efficient management of the poetry reading sessions.
Dr. Sarah Al-Khouli regarded celebrating national occasions as a sincere gesture of respect to the history of struggle and persistence that marked the reign of the founder of the kingdom, King Abdulaziz Al Saud. Moreover, she stressed the significance of poems as a means of expressing the ideals of loyalty to this generous homeland. Lastly, she praised the efforts undertaken by the various deanships, colleges and departments in organizing the diverse programs offered during the days celebrating this precious anniversary.
