The Intellectual Awareness Unit at the university conducted a scholarly symposium entitled, "Legal Ruling on the Disputes Among the Companions". The event took place at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning, 19 Muharram 1440 A.H., at the Hall of Sheikh Omar Al-Sabeel (may Allah be merciful to him), in the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies at Al-Abdiyyah.

The guest of the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Ghaith, spoke on several topics during the symposium, including the following:

1. The definition of who is a ''Companion of the Prophet''.
2. The correct creed of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).
3. Allah's testimony to the excellence of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).
4. The obligation of loving the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).
5. The prohibition of insulting the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them).

The symposium was enriched with useful treatises that were presented by some professors of the Department of Islamic History, and was managed by His Excellency Dr. Ayish Al-Bishri, Deputy Head of the Intellectual Awareness Unit.

The seminar was broadcasted via television to the female students section under the supervision of Her Excellency Dr. Nouf Al-Jua`id.
