The UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani Ghazi, discussed the mechanism of obtaining national accreditation for the Shari`ah and Islamic Studies program. Discussion of this issue took place during his meeting with the Dean of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, Dr. Ra'id Al-Usaimi, and his vice deans, as well as the Dean of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Muhammad Thabit, the vice deans and the advisors, at the college's headquarters in Al-Abdiyyah.
Dr. Hani Ghazi stated that the aim of the meeting was to prepare the college to obtain the national program accreditation for all its future programs, specifically the Shari`ah and Islamic Studies program, from the Education Evaluation Commission during the next six months. He pointed out that obtaining program accreditation from the commission forms part of the university's action plan for development and quality, in order to gain national academic program accreditation for all the university's programs.
Dr. Muhammad Thabit explained that the Deanship of Academic Development seeks to strengthen the methodology of comprehensive quality, and the processes of maintaining, developing, improving and expanding it within the academic, administrative, and research systems. This is done to ensure the improvement of its educational and research outputs. Afterwards, he noted that this work would be carried out in cooperation with all the colleges, represented by their academic departments, in order to update their programs according to the latest international standards in the educational process.
Finally, Dr. Ra'id Al-Usaimi clarified that the college, through its strategic objectives and plans, is seeking to disseminate Shari`ah science, while observing moderation along with fulfilling the correct Islamic doctrine. He elaborated that the college offers accredited scientific programs and distinguished research products in the domain of the sciences of Shari`ah and history to provide the Islamic and global community with highly qualified academic cadres that can invest the latest technology and build effective partnerships.
