Today, at his office in Al-Abdiyyah campus, His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, President of Umm Al-Qura University, launched the university strategic plan, "Tamkeen 2023". This activity took place in the presence of the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Uthman Ghazi, the Vice President for Educational Affairs, Prof. Abdulaziz Suruji, the Vice President for Branches, Dr. Abdul-Majid Al-Ghamdi, the Vice President, Prof. Farid Al-Ghamdi, the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini, the team members of the Empowerment Plan (Tamkeen 2023), and the Vice President for Female Affairs, Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khuli.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani Ghazi, expressed his thanks to His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, for his support for the research, educational and development plan. He indicated that the Empowerment Plan sought to develop a clear and well-defined vision for the bases and strategies upon which the university will depend during the coming five years. This plan will enable the university to undertake its scientific, research and communal role. He also praised the efforts of the Empowerment Plan team, and commended their keenness in serving the university and its affiliates.

Next, His Excellency the Dean of the College of Nursing and Head of the Team of the Empowerment Plan (Tamkeen 2023), Dr. Ayman Johargy, discussed the articles of the plan document that contains about 81 initiatives which are based on ideas and visions that contribute in serving the university and its community. The intention is for the university to achieve its goals and enable it to reach the level of the most advanced international universities. This can be achieved through four perspectives; financial perspective, agents perspective, operations and measures perspective, and development perspective. He indicated that the plan seeks to achieve diversified investment and an innovative knowledge economy. It aims to provide a sustainable institutional structure with a smart nature and an attractive scientific environment. Moreover, it seeks to form active and cooperative partnerships and gain high quality academic accreditation, nationally and internationally. The plan also aims to market the products and educational outcomes of the university.

On his part, His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the President of the University, stressed that the university administration supports all the stages and goals of the plan to achieve the aspirations and put them into practice. He praised the efforts of the Vice Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship, all the members of the team of the Strategic Empowerment Plan (Tamkeen 2023), the vice presidents, college deans, and all bodies participating in this plan. He indicated that the university is privileged with its impressive location at Makkah Al-Mukarramah which distinguishes it from other universities, in addition to its scientific and cognitive status. Thus, it pays great attention to these dimensions and values in its strategic plan. The university uses knowledge, scientific research and communal services in the fields that satisfy the aspirations of the country and meet the needs of the labor market according to the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.

At the end of the meeting, His Excellency the President of the University honored members of the Empowerment Plan for the efforts they exerted in serving their university.
