The Deanship of Libraries Affairs in Umm Al-Qura University held a show on Monday 26/06/1437 Hijri presenting a number of original and copied manuscripts in celebration of the Arabic Manuscripts Day. The show, that was in the Deanship building in the University City in Al-Abidiah, was attended by the University Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hany bin Othman Ghazi, the Head of the Deanship of Libraries Affairs, Dr. Adnan Al-Harethy, deputies of the Deanship and a number of employees.
The University Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hany bin Othman Ghazi, saw a number of diverse original and digital manuscripts of different countries including African and European countries, Turkey, India, Pakistan and other countries, and listened to a detailed description by the Head of the Deanship, Dr. Adnan Al-Harethy.
Dr. Al-Harethy said that the Deanship celebration of this occasion is driven by its cultural role in informing the society with manuscripts and ancient and modern research and scientific works. The Deanship is to allow visits to the Original Manuscripts Hall from Monday to Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm, he said. King Abdullah Library includes 3000 original manuscripts and 47044 diverse digital manuscripts, he added. Dr. Al-Harethy praised the great support the Deanship receives from the University President, Dr. Bakry bin Maatouq Assas, and the University vice-presidents and their keen interest in taking part in all events organized by the Deanship. He also thanked all employees of the Deanship for their efforts.
