At the King Faisal Hall, Abediyah Campus, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri Bin M'atooq Assas, headed the supervisory committee meeting for the first Scientific Research Forum intended to be organized from 20th till 21st Rabee'I 1438H at the King Abdulaziz Historical Hall, Abediyah Campus, and attended by the committee members.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Ahdal, Dean of Scientific Research, appreciated the efforts exerted by the working committees for such forum. He explained that the scientific sessions would comprise axes that would serve the development of the Deanship of Scientific Research in the domains of scholarships, centers, chairs, publishing and information. He noted that the forum would be accompanied by an exhibition of the published scientific production from 2010 till 2016, as well as the best practices of scientific research at the colleges, deanships and institutes. Moreover, he pointed out that the forum’s axes would involve scientific research successful experiences, scientific researches’ quality standards, scientific research centers and the role they played in decision making, research groups and their relation to the national economy, current and prospective scientific research ethics “scientific integrity,” and research chairs “productivity and finance.”
Within the same context, Dr. Al-Ahdal demonstrated the participations’ selection standards identified as a scholar from inside UQU, comparison of scientific degrees, connection of the scientific papers to the forum’s axes, and accomplishment of objectives through summarization. He asserted that the Forum would be held in 6 scientific sessions; each would comprise 5 speakers. He also noted that the number of the presented papers reached 110 scientific papers from inside and outside KSA, 30 of which were nominated after being assessed by the scientific committee.
Afterwards, President of UQU, Dr. Bakri Assas, clarified that UQU paid great attention to scientific research which was considered one of the most significant fundamental bases for the mission of the University. He insisted that the organization of the First Scientific Research Forum by UQU, represented by the Deanship for Scientific Research, was concrete evidence on its deep care for such aspect. He, therefore, urged the members of supervisory and organizational committees to pave the way for the achievement of the Forum’s desired purposes and objectives. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Assas wished everyone success and rectitude.
