UQU President Gives Orders to Meet Needs of Computer Departments in Jamoum and Qunfudah

President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri Bin M'atooq Assas, has urged relevant UQU subdivisions to rapidly fulfill the technical requirements of the computer departments at both Al-Jamoum and Al-Qunfudah University Colleges. He insisted on giving the said departments full support in order for them to fulfill the vocational standards required to obtain the programmatic (specialized) accreditation license at the coming visit of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) delegation to the two departments on 26th November, 2016.   

The UQU President gave his orders on Monday, 7th Safar, 1438H, during the meeting at his office, Abediyah Campus, with Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Mohamed Ja'afar Thabit, Dean of University Development and Quality, Dr. Faisal Baghdadi, Dean of Al-Jamoum University College, Dr. Yaseen Zubaidi, Dean of Al-Qunfudah University College, Dr. Majid Al-Gethami, Dean of Information Technology, and Dr. Khalid Barqawi, Dean of Community Service and Continuous Education College.

Dr. Assas accentuated that UQU would do its utmost to provide all its scientific departments with all the material and technological means, as well as all academic competencies, to enhance their educational level and let them keep pace with their counterparts at the most prestigious international universities. "UQU will spare no effort in order that all its scientific departments would obtain the internationally well-known licenses from the international institutions famous for their respective domains," he added.  

During the meeting, Dr. Assas underscored that all the needs of the computer departments at both Al-Jamoum and Al-Qunfudah University Colleges must be listed and rapidly met. By so doing, he made clear, the two departments would draw closer to a sought-after objective; that is to get the programmatic accreditation license. He noted that, to date, the number of programs that obtained such an international license amounted to twenty-seven programs.  

Noteworthy, UQU President also checked out the program prepared for the visit by ABET delegation. He was shown the latest preparations and arrangements by both the Vice-Deanship for Academic Development and Community Service and the Deanship for University Development. The topics discussed in the meeting included: accreditation standards, committees formed for fulfillment of accreditation standards, accreditation plan and self-study, infrastructure, services, computer laboratories, research activities, scientific projects statistics, and scientific publishing.   

Dr. Assas thanked Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, Vice-President for Academic Development and Community Service, and Dr. Mohamed Ja'afar Thabit, Dean of University Development and Quality, for the colossal efforts they exert as part of the university's pursuit towards accreditation, by means of adopting its executive program and strategy within an ambitious scientific framework. Likewise, he extended thanks to Dr. Faisal Baghdadi, Dean of Al-Jamoum University College, Dr. Yaseen Zubaidy, Dean of Al-Qunfudah University College, as well as Dr. Majid Al Gethami, Dean of Information Technology, for their efforts exerted within the same vein.
