The UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Ma'touq Assas, received the report made by the College of Nursing on university and community service for the elapsed academic year 1436-1437H.
The report was handed over by the College of Nursing Dean, Dr. Ayman bin Khalid Jawaherji, at the university president office at student hostel of Abdiya, in presence of vice-dean for academic affairs, Dr. Abdullah Ali Saaty.
Jawaherji said the report is titled “Nursing for university and community service”, adding that the college achieved excellence in running training courses targeting three categories: the university staff, Mecca community and health community.
The college ran 21 training courses where 388 trainees – of the university staff- received training in first aid and health enlightenment, added he.
The college, he elaborated, offered several courses for all community citizens, the staff of the state-owned and private schools for females at Mecca. This comes as part of the college social responsibility for increased awareness in first aid and health enlightenment about common diseases such as diabetes, Osteoporosis, Hypercholesterolemia and Hypertension. In addition, the college setup some clinics at those schools.
The health community courses participated in several events held at Mecca Hospital, Nour Hospital, Maternity Hospital and King Abdullah Medical City through nursing lectures and workshops.
His highness / Dr. Bakry bin Matuq Assas, the University President praised the content of the report which includes the college activities and events of the last year.
Assas pointed out that the college of nursing is one of the leading colleges in health education and all enlightening programs on community health, expressing his thanks to the college dean and the work team for those big efforts for university and community service.
