The Department of Information Science has organized the First-Year Students orientation meeting in the presence of the Dean of the College of Social Science Dr. Mohamed Basagr, the Head of the Department of Information Science Dr. Yassir Al-Saleh along with the members of the teaching staff in the department. 
 

At the onset of the meeting, the Head of the Information Science Department Dr. Yassir Al-Saleh said "this meeting comes in line with the vision of the department to achieve excellence in the field of information science and to contribute to improving the scientific and practical capabilities in addition to supporting the department mission in providing the human cadre with high level education and skills to deal with the requirements of the information science and the modern technological applications so as to meet the needs of the labor market in the public and private sectors".  He added that the department save no effort to remove all obstacles and problems facing its male and female students.  
 

After that, the Dean of the College Dr. Basagr delivered speech in which he said that all the capabilities of the college are devoted to support the educational process, and he lauded the support and attention paid by the UQU President Dr. Assas to all the scientific programs and activities of the college. 
 

For his part, the Head of the scientific activities committee in the department, Dr. Sayed Shaban Abdul Aleem said the plan of the scientific activities of the department includes also organizing an introductory day for the research works of the members of the teaching staff, making scientific visits to some information institutions in the Kingdom, besides starting up some training programs and workshops related to the professional development of the male and female students.  He added that the committee will organize an exhibition to showcase the distinguished works of the its students and to introduce future work opportunities available to them after graduation.    

The orientation meeting also included a presentation by the Head of the Department Dr. Yassir Al-Saleh and the Coordinator of the Department Mr. Saadulddin Shiriatih to provide guidance and orientating for students and to introduce to them the problems that might face them, the department study plan besides the adding and dropping courses mechanism and the academic mentoring process. 
 

On his part Dr. Sayed Shaban presented an introductory video on the department and its vision and mission and the tasks of the scientific activities committee. He was followed by Dr. Mahmoud Abouldahab who delivered speech on the university studies skills and Dr. Amro Faheem who gave a presentation on the job opportunities available for the department students after graduation.
