The UQU College of Dentistry ranked the highest among more than 20 universities and colleges in the statistics of intern students’ performance in the Saudi Dental Licensing Exam. The college's 84 students received a grade of 100% when they sat for the exam given by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) in the period from 1 June 2017 A.C. to 28 December, 2018 A.C.
On his personal Twitter account, the Minister of Health, Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah, congratulated Umm Al-Qura University for obtaining first place in dentistry. The Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Khutani, expressed his pride in the outstanding graduates of the college, the academic staff, and the achievement made. He praised the college's determination to top the health colleges and maintain excellence over three successive years.
The College of Nursing received a grade of 95% in the statistics of intern students’ performance in the Saudi Nursing Licensing Exam out of 41 educational institutions, after 105 of its students sat for the exam given by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) in the period from 1 June 2017 A.C. to 28 December 2018 A.C. His Excellency the Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr. Ayman Jawahirji, expressed his pleasure at the achievements of the college students, saying that it reflects the excellence of the educational and practical process at the college. He continued, "Without the full support provided by the university leadership for the members of the academic staff, we wouldn't have reached such excellence. Our ambition will drive us to achieve our best in the coming competitions."
His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, said such an achievement is evidence of the efficacy the university enjoys in all its health colleges, as the students' outcomes have firmly proven that we are following a clear scientific methodology through the application of international teaching standards. He also congratulated all the university staff on this achievement.
According to the SCHS Twitter account, the average mark in the dentistry graduate studies exam held by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties was 79% for the year 2018 A.C., while the average mark for the nursing exam was 76% for the same year.
SCHS explained that the improved results are attributable to the efforts of the public and private universities to boost the quality of the outcomes of the health colleges and prepare the future graduates. It should be noted that the national exams given by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in human medicine, dentistry, and nursing take place according to the highest international assessment standards.
