UQU President Opens New Faculty Members Preparation Program

President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bkari Assas inaugurated the New Faculty Members Preparation Program organized by the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality in collaboration with the University Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs with the participation of the different deanships, departments and centers of the university. The program kicked off  on Sunday Muharram 15, 1438 H, and will last up to next Thursday Muharram 19, 1438 H, at King Abdul-Aziz support Hall in Abdyia for male, and Al-Jawhara Hall for female students simultaneously. The inauguration was attended by UQU Vice President for Academic Development and Community Service, Dr. Hany bin Othman Ghazi, the Dean of Academic Development and Quality Dr. Mohamed Ja'afar Thabit and the Deans of the Colleges and Deanships.  

  
 
After initiating the ceremony with a Quranic recitation, the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Srouji delivered address in which he welcomed the UQU President, UQU Vice Presidents, Deans of the Colleges and Deanships and the New Faculty Members. He said that the New Faculty Members Preparation Program overseen by the UQU Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs, comes as part of the concern attached by the university to this side which is reckoned one of the mainstays of the university mission and reflects also the university role in disseminating culture of quality and adopting academic accreditation standards thus making the university colleges and scientific departments to establish committees for quality management and improvement besides upgrading education and learning by designing scientific programs and study courses in such a manner that achieves more compliance with the requirements of the labor market.

       
 
He stressed that the program is aimed at providing the new faculty members with the knowledge they require to perform their professional tasks as well as defining the university rules and regulations, assessments and teaching methods and the services provided for them.
 


He was followed by the ex-member of Shoura council, the Chairman of Leadership Community College (LCC), Dr. Abdul-Raziq Balila who offered a presentation on the importance of improving leadership skills of the faculty members for the national transformation phase 2030. He described the themes which contribute to improving leadership skills and the elements of the effective management including the engagement of the faculty members in the work, Self-motivation, effective leadership returns on the investment and following up the outputs. He added that the Saudi Vision 2030  is focusing on the economic side while the academic institutions vision is focusing on the human development and preparation of the national cadres.        
 


After that, the UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas addressed the meeting and welcomed the new faculty members at Umm Al-Qura University and wished them all success in undertaking their practical tasks and  assuming educational roles. He said that the university always work to create an appropriate educational environment for students to help the students receive their knowledge inside the corridors of this lofty scientific edifice. He also lauded the role undertaken by the Deanship of Academic Development and the Vice Presidency of Educational Affairs in organizing such programs.  
 


At the conclusion of the first day events, the UQU President Dr. Assas honored the parties involved in these program including Dr. Mazin Balila for his participation in this regard. On his part,  Dr. Balila also honored Dr. Assas with a memorial shield offered by the Leadership Management International Institute(LMi) for selecting him as the first leader of development by the Institute.
