The Deanship of Student Affairs at Umm Al-Qura University has launched the Student Council for the academic year 1439\1440 A.H. His Excellency the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Amr bin Taha Al-Saqqaf, stressed that the goal of this council is listening to students' views concerning the quality of services offered by the deanship, in addition to their active participation in developing a general vision of the extracurricular activities carried out by the deanship. The Student Council is comprised of representatives from twenty student clubs of Islamic legal sciences, medicine, engineering, science, creativity and innovation, as well as student clubs of scouting and other cultural fields.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Amr Al-Saqqaf, said, "The Student Council falls within the deanship's strategic plan and the values that the deanship seeks to foster among the student community." He stressed that the goal of establishing the Student Council is to develop a comprehensive database of student needs and the level of satisfaction with the services and activities offered by the deanship. It also aims to discover and foster their talents.
His Excellency the Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Student Support, Dr. Hasan Sinki, headed the first meeting of the Student Council on Monday 15 Jumada Al-Awwal 1440 A.H. This meeting was held in the meeting room of the Deanship of Student Affairs in the presence of his Excellency the Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Activities and Student Training, Dr. Omar bin Siraj Sunbul. The meeting tackled the work mechanism of the Student Council and the manner of nominating the chairman and the deputy chairman of the council.
