His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the President of Umm Al-Qura University, inaugurated the workshop organized by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research, in cooperation with the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques. The workshop was held under the title of "Defining the long-term vision and the role of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques in the employment of science, technology, and innovation to serve Islamic rituals and facilitate their performance in the Two Holy Mosques" in the research tent at the Institute headquarters in Al-Aziziyah.
The workshop was attended by His Excellency the General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Dr. Abdul-Rahman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Sudais; the Dean of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research, Dr. Sami bin Yasin Brahmin; and representatives of governmental and private sectors related to the system of services provided to the Two Holy Mosques.
At the beginning of the speech ceremony, the Dean of the Institute, Dr. Sami bin Yasin Brahmin, welcomed His Excellency the UQU President, His Excellency the General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, and workshop participants. He pointed out that this workshop is part of the partnership with the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques that seeks to develop innovative and developmental solutions for the services provided to the pilgrims of the Two Holy Mosques.
Following this, the Head of the Environment and Health Research Department and the workshop supervisor, Dr. Abdullah Al-Siba`i, made a visual presentation of the workshop. He pointed out that the workshop aims to explore the participants' views on the future vision of the Two Holy Mosques in terms of the technical, research, and innovative aspects of health, environment and energy, water and crowd management, as well as social and enrichment aspects.
For his part, His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the President of the University, said, "Much attention is paid by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, may Allah maintain its security and stability, to the affairs of the Two Holy Mosques and their pilgrim guests. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research at UQU is one of the agencies that the Wise Leadership - may Allah support it - has used to support the Hajj and Umrah system, for the studies, research programs, and workshops the Institute provides for the convenience and safety of pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet's Mosque."
His Excellency expressed his hope that the participants of the workshop would come out with scientific recommendations and smart applications to achieve its goal of using modern technology to serve the Two Holy Mosques. He appreciated the interest of His Excellency the General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque in attending and participating in the workshop. He also praised the efforts of all employees of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research in ensuring the smooth organization of the workshop.
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency the General President for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Dr. Abdul-Rahman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Sudais, delivered a speech in which he praised the workshop, which was concerned with developing the system of services provided to the guests of the Two Holy Mosques and the system whose information, foundation, and output are based on the principles of scientific research.
His Excellency also stressed that the maintenance of the Two Holy Mosques and the provision of services to their visitors is a large project that has been offered by the Kingdom since it was established by the late King Abdul-Aziz bin Abdul-Rahman Al Saud, may Allah be merciful to him. This favor continued during the reigns of the succeeding kings who devoted special attention to the service of the Two Holy Mosques, until the flourishing time of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, the Deputy Prime Minister (may Allah safeguard them), during which Hajj and Umrah were placed under Saudi Vision 2030 to receive 30 million visitors and pilgrims each year.
His Excellency added, "In order to provide the highest quality services to pilgrims and visitors of the Two Holy Mosques, collaborative efforts must be made in business development, technology employment, innovation, creativity, and applications to use them in counseling and guidance, and to provide an attractive environment for the easy performance of the Hajj and Umrah rituals in an atmosphere of security, safety, and health."
His Excellency praised the partnership of the Presidency with Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute, based on scientific research and knowledge. He pointed out that the Institute has made great efforts in all sciences related to the system of services provided to the pilgrims, and related to their engineering, social, media, and environmental aspects.
