On behalf of the President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri M'atooq Assas, the UQU Vice President Dr. Yassir bin Suleiman Shoushou participated in "How to be a Role Model" project inaugurated by the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Emir of Makkah Prince Khalid Al-Faisal at his office in Jeddah on Wednesday Muharram 11, 1438 H. The event which was attended by the directors of the government sectors and a constellation of writers, intellectuals and social media activists, comes as part of the region's strategy to build a good human being.
After launching the project, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal said the kingdom's law is based on Quran and Sunnah in such a manner that strengthens the concept of the role model amongst our sons citing what was circulated by the social media about the services provided for pilgrims by the sons of our country.
" Our religion is Islam, our constitution is Quran and Sunnah, our curricula and life are based on Islam, so how not to be a role model? " he expounded, stressing the importance of making use of life gains without refraining from our Islamic constants.
Further, he called upon all the authorities in the region to interact with the project and ordered the formation of a committee including members from all the bodies in the Emirate to undertake programs and activities related to the project besides establishing a center in the Emirate to be a linking point between the Emirate and other government bodies. This Center is tasked with coordinating and organizing the events and activities which boost the concept of "How to be a Role Model, besides submitting an annual report to him on the achievements made in this regard.
Meanwhile, he urged all citizens of Makkah region to contribute to the cultural and intellectual project of "How to be a role model" and to undertake their roles in this regard. He added that the project targets heads of the families, teachers, Mosque bleachers, and the officials each in their relevant sector.
All the more, he applauded Makkah Emirate for launching a new initiative to organize and arrange the events of the region towards developmental integration of building the human being and achieving the desired goal of human being building and region development through an annual slogan that inspires the different activities and unifies messages directed to building role models.
This project achieves the second goal of the developmental vision of the region represented in upgrading development of the region’s human to be strong and honest by means of supporting the developmental efforts in Makkah in the cultural, intellectual, awareness, communication and coordination aspects, besides involving the civil society in analyzing problems and suggesting initiatives.
Moreover, the slogan of “How to be a role model” will be rolled out to all public and private sectors and all activities and events in Makkah region. The slogan will be adopted in all activities and events of the region through the entertainment, educational, cultural, social and sports forms. Additionally, success indicators will be set for the project to come out with tangible achievements by the end of the year. Additionally, a supervision committee will be formed to follow up all activities and events of the region to ensure their adherence to the slogan of the year “Ho to be a role model” and its objective. This committee will assess, select and honor the distinctive initiatives which contributed to building the human being of the region and enriched the slogan of the year in a perfect manner.
It’s worth mentioning that during the last five years many strategies meant to build the human being of the region were turned into various developmental initiatives including; Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Chair for building Human being, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Chair for Consolidating Saudi Modernization Approach, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Chair to promote respect for law, the weekly salons, Makkah region youth programs, Souq Okaz, Makkah Excellence Award, Districts social centers, Reconciliation Committee and Ektifaa project.
