College of Public Health and the General Authority of Meteorology Discuss Means of Mutual Cooperation

The Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics at Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Ahmed ibn Omar Babalgith, and the Deputy President of the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection for Environmental Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Al-Ansari, discussed the means of mutual cooperation between the two sides during a meeting held on Thursday 18 Rabi`Al-Thani 1440 A.H. at the Authority's headquarters in Jeddah.

Dr. Al-Ansari outlined the services offered by the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, such as monitoring weather phenomena and issuing expectations for the safety of lives and the protection of property through an integrated scientific and technical system based on international standards in the field of meteorology. He also stressed the need to protect the current and future generations against the harms of environmental pollution through the development of environmental administration and ensuring balanced development.

The Deputy President of the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection welcomed training and qualifying students from the College of Public Health and Health Informatics at Umm Al-Qura University. Dr. Babalgaith and the accompanying delegate praised the services offered and efforts made by the Authority in serving the community. He added that the meeting aims to activate a social partnership between the two sides. He also praised the care of his Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, in providing the best services to develop health and the environment.

The meeting discussed the possibility of signing a social partnership with the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, and training students of the college by providing them with the required experience and skills to be able to perform their duties in their future employment.

The meeting was held in the presence of the Vice-Dean of the College, Dr. Hamid Ghulam; the Vice-Dean of the College for Educational Affairs, Dr. Ali Al-Shihri; the Supervisor of the Vice-Deanship of the College for Hospital Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Othman; the Director of the National Strategy for Health and Environment, Dr. Majdi Al-Tukhi; the Director of the Research and Development Center, Dr. Talal Al-Milbi; and the Director of the Health and Environment Administration, Salim bin Shu`aib.
