President of Umm Al-Qura university (UQU) Dr. Bakri M'atoog bin Bakri Assas launched at his office in Abyiah campus several initiatives and programs related to the Deanship of Scientific Research in the presence of the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, the Dean of Scientific Research Dr. Faisal bin Ahmed Al-Alaf and the Vice Dean of Scientific Research for Research Chairs Dr. Abdul Wahab bin Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Rseni.
In the beginning, he launched the deanship of scientific research channel on Telegram under the name (El-Manara Channel for Scientific Research) which designed to becoming a comprehensive and reference and a renewable source to serve scientific research and knowledge community. The channel is concerned with providing all that related to the scientific research and researchers at all scientific fields and specialties. The beta version of the channel was launched on Dhul-Qe'dah 11, 1437 H to have currently more than 500 subscribers from in and outside the university.

Additionally, Dr. Assas launched also "Eshada" Initiative designed to motivate members of the teaching staff to register in the three web search engines including; Scopus, research gate, google scholars by making a weekly random selection -for three months- of one of the members of the teaching staff registered in WhatsApp groups and Social media websites related to Umm Al-Qura University to praise him through an e-greeting card containing a brief information about him and his contribution in the previously mentioned search engines.
Further, he launched the influential researchers series to shed light on the most influential researchers of the university based on their activities in this regard. The first series of the influential researchers will be published in March 2017.
It's noteworthy that Dr. Assas has launched also two training programs for female faculty members, the 1st program aims at building research capacities for the new female researchers (the holders of PhD within less than two years), whilst the other one aims at improving skills of hernssing technology in researches. The two programs last for 16 training hours each during Muharam and Safar months under the supervision of the Vice Deanship of Scientific Research for Quality and Development.
All the more, the President of UQU has launched also the Deanship of Scientific Research Blog.
