UQU, represented in the College of Applied Sciences, organized for the first time a laboratory safety course, entitled: «Safe work protocol in scientific laboratories for new students enrolling for the preparatory year in academic year 1436/1437 H», in the presence of three thousand students, on Wednesday 27/12/1437 at King Abdulaziz Historic Hall on Abedeya campus, where the session was opened by Dean Dr. Waleed Altaf, by giving a speech for students attending the session, concerning the University-student relationship and the duties of each.

He said that the University had provided - thanks to Allah - the scientific academic environment with all its elements, hence students need to value what is there for them, and they are required to preserve and utilize them, so as to serve their scientific steps.

He revealed that this course is mandatory, hence no student will be allowed into any of the College labs for practical lessons,  unless they show the card evidencing attending this course, hence the  names were registered at the entrance hall.

He confirmed that the strategic objective of this course is preserving the safety of the student, which is achieved through Dr. Saleh Abdul Majeed Ahmed's thorough explanation that is based on two elements, namely, raising awareness and knowledge; raising awareness of working safely in laboratories and to know international safety standards for safe work, such as ways to deal with chemical, biological and scientific instruments, in addition to knowledge of public and private safety tools.

Then the course was presented by Dr. Saleh Abdul Majeed Ahmed, as he gave a presentation that goes with the course outputs, in addition to a presentation concerning the academic year.

Then Saleh Abdul Majeed Ahmed answered students’ questions and inquiries.

The course was attended by the College vice presidents and a number of College members.

The course was presented last Tuesday to female students through the CCTV network at Zaher campus and it was attended by more than 2200 students.
