Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of Scientific Research and the King Abdullah Chair for Holy Qur'an, participated in the annual International Qur'anic Conference (Muqaddas 8), organized by the University of Malaya in Malaysia. The conference was entitled “Qur'anic Guidance” and took place from 7 to 7 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H. in the presence of the Saudi Cultural Attaché in Malaysia, Dr. Khalid Aal Mutlaq.
King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Chair for Holy Qur'an was the judge for the scientific contributions and research papers of the conference. Under the supervision of the Vice-Deanship of Scientific Research, 50 papers out of 88 in the field of Qur'anic guidance were presented by teachers and students of the International Encyclopedia of Hidayat (Guidance) in the Holy Qur'an and the scientific team of the Chair for Holy Qur'an.
By participating in such international conferences and forums, the Deanship of Scientific Research aims to highlight the scientific and research contributions made by the university in various fields on international and local levels.
The International Qur’anic Conference included a variety of scientific contributions from 29 Islamic countries around the world, and a number of associated events such as training courses, scientific seminars, and workshops for researchers.
The participating delegation from the Deanship of Scientific Research and the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Chair for Holy Qur’an included the Vice-Dean of the Scientific Research, Dr. Abdullah Al-Tamim; the Vice-Dean for Scientific Chairs, Dr. Abdelelah Al-Ghamedi; the Supervisor of the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Chair for Holy Qur’an, Dr. Yahya Zamzami; the Head of the Scientific Committee, Dr. Yasin Qari; and the members of the Scientific Committee, Dr. Salim Al-Zahrani, Dr. Taha Abidin, Dr. Ahmad Al-Firij, Dr. Yusuf Al-Bahuth, and Dr. Fakhrudin Al-Zubair.
The delegation visited the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
