UQU Vice President for Female Student Affairs Inaugurates the Activities of the First Scientific Forum for the English Language Department

In honor of Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khuli, the UQU Vice President of Female Student Affairs, the English Language Department at the College of Social Sciences organized the activities of the first scientific forum entitled, "Languages are the keys of hope for consolidation and work: Vision 2030 and beyond". This forum was supervised by the Deputy Head of the English Language Department, Dr. Hadil bint Jamal Azhar, and was attended by the deputy heads and heads of different departments, female academic staff, and female students. The forum was held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, 7 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H., in Al-Jafaly Hall (3).

The forum started with a recitation of the Qur'an, followed by an introduction entitled "Allah taught Adam" presented by Dr. Dimah Abdul-Jabbar. After that, an overview about the forum was given by the Deputy Head of the Department, Dr. Hadil bint Jamal Azhar, under the slogan "The English Language Department towards 2030". Following this, the Vice-President for Female Student Affairs, Dr. Sarah Al-Khuli, delivered a speech on the importance of becoming acquainted with the different specializations, and its effective role in enabling the graduates to enter the work market. Moreover, this will provide the students with the skills needed for them to make the intended change, in addition to the ability to express themselves and to be influential.

On her part, the Vice-Dean of the College of Social Science, Dr. Khulud Al-Thabiti, gave a speech entitled "What linguistic specializations offer to the work market". In the same context, Dr. In`am Maglad tackled the role of literature in urging the nation to reach excellence in the light of the Saudi Vision 2030, and Dr. Samyah Al-Gabri tackled the role of translation in shaping the future, also in the light of the Saudi Vision 2030. In addition, Dr. Suzan Bardisi delivered a speech entitled "The challenges that face linking theoretical specializations to the work market in the light of the national transformation program and the Saudi Vision 2030." Next, the student Mi`ad Al-Miqati delivered a speech entitled "My journey with translation", and the student Ru'ya Tambusi delivered a speech on the "Be Helpful" voluntary program, launched by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Following these speeches, a discussion was held with some female guests who had started their career after their graduation from the English Language Department. The discussion was presided by Dr. Mahram Al-Nisa Titkistani and Dr. Tahani Al-Harbi. The forum was then concluded by thanking and appreciating all the organizers and participants.

At the end of the forum, all the attendees proceeded to the exhibition associated with the forum, which was supervised by Dr. Suzan Wazan, Dr. Khadija Al-Jabri and Dr. A'ishah Al-Subhi.
