The Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture at Umm Al-Qura University held an introductory meeting about the Saudi Society for Civil Engineering, Makkah Branch, at the theater of the College of Engineering lecture hall. The meeting was attended by the dean of the College of Civil Engineering, Dr. Ahmad Al-Ahmady; the executive director of the Saudi Society for Civil Engineering at King Abdulaziz University, Dr. Muhammad Abid Bukhary; the head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Alawy; and department academic staff and students.
The meeting started with Qur'anic recitation. Then, the dean of the college, Dr. Ahmad Al-Ahmady, thanked the Saudi Society for Civil Engineering at King Abdulaziz University for their considerable efforts in reviving and activating the branch of the society in Makkah Al-Mukarramah. This effort, he added, shows the depth of cooperation and solidarity towards civil engineering and the engineering society as a whole. He also added that the society branch accomplished many achievements during the last period and it will keep progressing, Allah Willing, to activate many programs and activities to serve civil engineers.
Afterwards, Dr. Tariq Nahhas gave an introductory lecture on Saudi building code. Finally, the executive director of the Saudi Society for Civil Engineering, Dr. Muhammad `Abid Bukhary, delivered a speech about the society's progress since its foundation by virtue of the efforts and success achieved by all members. He also talked about the society's policies and its role in the coming stage through restructuring its board of directors, and identifying its goals and programs. The meeting also tackled many other topics.
