His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, and His Excellency the President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Qasim, have signed a memorandum of understanding between Umm Al-Qura University and the Saudi Red Crescent Authority at the headquarters of the authority in Riyadh. The meeting was attended by the adviser of His Excellency the University Director and the General Supervisor of the General Administration of Projects, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hazimy, His Excellency the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Ayman Al-Sa'igh, His Excellency the Vice Dean for Hospital Affairs, Dr. Mahir Al-Indijany, and His Excellency the Vice Dean for Development and Community Service, Dr. Muhammad Al-Karby.
His Excellency the Umm Al-Qura University Director clarified that this agreement embodies the mutual integrated work among the national establishments with the aim of developing the services provided and qualifying the specializing cadres. In addition, this agreement is driven by the University's mission, which is based on the utilization of the expertise of the specialists at the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, and the provision of a field training environment convenient for the UQU's students. The agreement also aims to contribute to community service by participating in voluntary first aid work during the Hajj and `Umrah seasons. The UQU Director extended his thanks to His Excellency the President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority for his warm reception and the efforts exerted in concluding the agreement.
His Excellency the President of the Saudi Red Crescent clarified that the agreement would ensure scientific support through the provision of experienced and qualified staff according to the University's expertise. This is in addition to the provision of specialized consultations in the emergency medical services field, which will be determined by the Authority according to its needs, and the methodology adopted by the two parties. Moreover, under this agreement, a number of students affiliated to the University's medical and health colleges shall be trained at the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the different scientific skills required by their majors in the University.
The Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Ayman Al-Sa'igh, expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the University Director for his support of the development of the education process. He also thanked him for the enthusiasm and attention given to this type of cooperation, which aims to provide training opportunities for the students participating in the Emergency Medical Services Program at the branches of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
Dr. Ayman Al-Sa'igh also made it clear that this agreement embodies the comprehensive boom witnessed by the Kingdom under the unlimited support of their wise leadership at all levels, especially the health and educational sectors. The agreement also complements the missions of both Umm Al-Qura University and the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, which contribute to the growth of a knowledgeable society and the promotion of integration and participation on the part of the two bodies.
Dr. Al-Sa'igh also indicated that the agreement would contribute to the formation of a mutual work team that includes specialists from the affiliates of the College of Applied Medical Sciences and the General Administration of Training and Human Resources Development at the Saudi Red Crescent Authority. This is in order to activate and support collaboration in the different fields of development, and the application of the articles mentioned in the memorandum.
